Over a four-semester period, students enrolled in the graduate study programme in sociology at the Centre for Croatian Studies of the University of Zagreb will further advance the knowledge acquired during the undergraduate study programme, as well as acquire new professional knowledge and practical skills which are essential for independent work in a range of professional positions, with an emphasis on those activities which require understanding and interpretation of social processes, social relations, values and all forms of social activity. The graduate study programme consists of both required and elective subjects divided into three categories: theoretical subjects, methodological subjects and specific and professional skills subjects. The required subjects which make up the graduate study programme in sociology are aimed at advancing the students’ sociological knowledge, whereby prominent place belongs to sociological research, analysis and interpretation of social processes. The comprehensive range of elective subjects on offer allows graduate students to focus on a specific field of sociology, such as European studies, cultural anthropology, gender studies, sociology of development and of safety, as well as enables them to acquire theoretical, methodological and practical knowledge in a number of other fields of sociology which are not included in either the undergraduate or graduate study programme.
