Undergraduate study programme in Croatology (double major) is an interdisciplinary cultural study programme dedicated to the study of Croatian cultural and national identity. Apart from learning and studying scientific achievements throughout various aspects that make up an integral body of culture of Croatian people in European environment, the study of Croatology is dedicated to the application of such knowledge in different areas of social and cultural life. The programme provides students with skills and knowledge related to the building blocks of Croatian culture, including their respective historical dimensions. During the first year, students are introduced to the study of Croatian culture and to the main features of the Croatian identity in the European context. In addition, students acquire knowledge about the initial periods of Croatian cultural, political and literary history. Studying the development of Croatian culture is continued during the second year and is used as the foundation for further learning of Croatian ethnology and deepening the knowledge of Croatian standard language (with emphasis on syntax). In the third year basic knowledge of Croatian archaeological heritage, arts, music, theatre, natural sciences and the history of standard language is acquired. The bachelor thesis is written during the sixth semester.
