Among the activities of the Faculty of Croatian Studies are scientific research and professional work, with a particular focus on the Croatian language.
The Centre for Learning Croatian was established by a decision of the Faculty Council on 4 December 2020 with the adoption of the Statute of the Faculty of Croatian Studies. It is defined as an organisational unit of the Faculty engaged in teaching and professional work, as well as in the development of professional and other study programmes connected with practice.
The Centre delivers training and professional development programmes in the Croatian language as part of the lifelong learning system and participates in the preparation of the undergraduate professional study programme in Croatian language.
The Centre teaches the standard Croatian language as a means of public communication, as an essential component of cultural identity, and as a national medium for expressing culture.
Through its activities, the Centre promotes interculturality and multilingualism in Europe as important identity features of contemporary society.
In addition to traditional classroom learning, participants acquire Croatian language skills through various joint activities with the Centre’s staff.
