On September 25, 2024, the National Day of the Republic of Korea (August 15) was celebrated at the Westin Hotel in Zagreb, attended by a large number of guests.
At the invitation of His Excellency Hong Sungwook, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Croatia, the Faculty of Croatian Studies was represented by Assistant Rector with the powers of Vice-Dean for International Cooperation, Assist. Prof. Dr. Sc. Wollfy Krašić, and Josip Zekić, M.A. in History Education, Head of the Office for International and Inter-Institutional Cooperation.
The Faculty of Croatian Studies and the Republic of Korea are particularly connected through the King Sejong Institute for Korean Language and Culture, which was established at the Faculty of Croatian Studies in September 2020. The Institute collaborates with Chung-Ang University in Korea and receives support from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. The Institute was represented by Seonghyun Kwon, a graduate student of Croatology at our faculty and an associate at the King Sejong Institute.
Guests had the opportunity to learn about the technological achievements of renowned Korean companies such as Samsung and Hankook, explore Korean literature translated into Croatian, and enjoy delicious Korean delicacies.
