  • Programme description: The King Sejong Institute Zagreb is an institution intended for everyone who wishes to learn the Korean language and culture. It was opened in September 2020 at the Faculty of Croatian Studies in cooperation with Chung-Ang University in Korea. The institute promotes Korean language and culture and offers educational programmes under the auspices of the King Sejong Institute Foundation. Korean language classes are taught by Korean instructors who provide systematic and professional education. Each year consists of two semesters: the first from March to June, and the second from September to December. A semester lasts 15 weeks, and classes are held for 3 hours per week. We offer courses for all levels, from beginner to intermediate and advanced. Students may enrol in a beginner course, or, if they already have prior knowledge, they may take an online placement test. During classes, students learn vocabulary and grammar and practise listening and reading skills. The final exam is held in the last week of the semester. To successfully complete the course, students must have at least 70% attendance and achieve a minimum of 60 out of 100 points on the final exam. Upon completion of the course, students receive a certificate from the King Sejong Institute, which may serve as proof of Korean language proficiency when applying for a residence visa in Korea. In addition to language classes, the institute organises various cultural activities such as Korean cooking workshops, wearing traditional Korean clothing, K-pop events, Korean painting and calligraphy, and many other cultural exchange activities. These activities allow students to experience Korean culture directly and gain a deeper understanding of it. We also have student communities, such as a literature club and a K-pop community, in which students can share their interests and enjoy a sense of belonging.
