The 11th European Conference of Egyptologists (ECE XI) was held at Hyperion University in Bucharest from 9 to 14 September 2025. Among the distinguished participants was Prof. Mladen Tomorad, Ph.D., Head of the Department of History, Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, who took part as a member of the Scientific Committee.
During his stay in Bucharest, Prof. Tomorad chaired one of the conference sessions and delivered a lecture on Friday, 12 September, titled “Reception of Ancient Egypt in Video (Computer) Games Published in the Last 20 Years (2004/2005–2024/2025)”.
This presentation forms part of the EU-funded project “Perceptions and Representations of History in Modern and Contemporary Culture,” which Prof. Tomorad has coordinated at the Faculty of Croatian Studies until June 2025.
While in Bucharest, Prof. Tomorad also held meetings with several European academic and research institutions to discuss potential collaborations. Furthermore, several colleagues joined the Scientific Committee of the upcoming international conference “Global Perceptions and Receptions of Ancient History,” which will be held in Zagreb from 3 to 7 November 2026, organized jointly by the Faculty of Croatian Studies, the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb, and the Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb.
