She was born on April 23, 1982, in Zagreb. She finished elementary school in Bedekovčina, a language grammar school in Zagreb. On April 27, 2005, she graduated at the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Zagreb, majoring in speech and language therapy. In 2009/2010, she enrolled in the university postgraduate doctoral study of pedagogy at the Faculty of humanities and social sciences, University of Zagreb. She successfully defended her doctoral dissertation entitled "Intercultural determinants of bilingual education" under the mentorship of Professor dr. sc. Neven Hrvatić and Associate Professor dr. sc. Jelena Kuvač Kraljiević, on May 23, 2017, at the Faculty of humanities and social sciences, University of Zagreb and obtained the academic degree of Doctor of Science, field of social sciences, scientific field of pedagogy. In 2018, she was elected to the scientific title of research associate in the scientific field of social sciences - the area of pedagogy, and in 2019 she was elected to the scientific-teaching title of assistant professor. Since the academic year 2014/2015. as an external associate at the Department of Pedagogy of the Faculty of humanities and social sciences in Zagreb, she led seminars in several courses: Pedagogical
resocialization, Intercultural curriculum, Home education, Methodology of working with students s
special needs, Fundamentals of pedagogy, and Fundamentals of special pedagogy. From 2007 to 2019, she worked in the early and preschool education system as a professional speech and language therapist. From July 2019 to February 2021, she was the holder of the compulsory course Didactics at the Center for Teacher Education of the Faculty of humanities and social sciences in Zagreb. Since February 2021, she has been employed at the Department of Education Sciences, Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb. During her professional career, Iva Ivanković was a mentor to trainee speech therapists in taking professional exams in early and preschool education. She was also a mentor to pedagogy students at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb in writing and defending graduate theses. She completed the general verbotal seminar I and II; a workshop for the application of the "Talking Mats" method in working with people with communication difficulties; seminar for the application of augmentative and alternative communication as well as assistive technology in working with children with speech and language difficulties (DART Center for AAC and AT Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden). Since April 2018, she has been elected a member of the Expert Working Group for the Implementation of Curricular Reform of the Republic of Croatia, an expert in education, subcategory of early and preschool education.
