About Us

The Study of Educational Sciences (Pedagogy) was developed in response to the educational needs of Croatian society, which is currently undergoing a comprehensive reform of its educational system. This reform calls for new professionals who will be direct agents of these changes. The purpose of launching the study program in Educational Sciences (Pedagogy) at the Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, is to educate scientists and professionals whose competencies will contribute to the advancement of education in line with contemporary global trends, as well as the broader socio-economic progress in the Republic of Croatia.

The Study of Educational Sciences (Pedagogy) is interdisciplinary in its scientific orientation, which entails the study of pedagogical knowledge in connection with related sciences and disciplines, with particular emphasis on integrating a range of courses from psychological sciences. The role of pedagogues as scientists and professional collaborators is primarily in conducting and participating in diverse developmental and action research, organizing the educational process, enhancing teaching practices, performing advisory and professional developmental tasks, as well as engaging in professional development and lifelong learning. Through this study program, students are prepared by learning about new forms of teaching and instruction, designing and applying educational guidelines, lifelong learning and adult education, education of students with special needs, management of educational institutions, the use of information and communication technologies in teaching, conducting research projects in the fields of education, innovations in education, educational policies and reforms, delivering distance learning, and addressing contemporary challenges of education, parenting, and childhood.
