PristupačnostThe Department of Sociology was established in 1992 and is one of the core disciplines of the Faculty of Croatian Studies. The concept of sociology studies focuses on the application of sociological theories and social science methodology for understanding social processes and phenomena in the specific context of Croatian society and comparatively in a European and global perspective. The study of sociology aims to train highly qualified sociological research personnel with professional research and analytical skills necessary for productive work in the public and private sectors. The sociology program at the bachelor's and master's levels is organized according to current international scientific standards.
A working meeting with Associate Professor Andreja Sršen from the Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, leader of the NPOO project “Climate Change and Security Challenges”, was held on 2 September at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Mostar.
Associate Professor Andreja Sršen met with the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dražen Barbarić, and the Vice-Dean for International Cooperation, Assistant Professor Jelena Jurčić. The meeting focused on opportunities for cooperation within the project, with particular emphasis on the international conference planned for May 2027, which is one of the activities envisaged under the project.
Particular attention was given to the potential involvement of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Mostar, in organising the conference, as well as to cooperation on other research aspects of the project and the development of future forms of collaboration within the project activities.
The meeting confirmed opportunities for further strengthening ties between the two institutions and for developing joint research activities addressing current issues related to climate change and security challenges.
