About Us

The Department of Sociology was established in 1992 and is one of the core disciplines of the Faculty of Croatian Studies. The concept of sociology studies focuses on the application of sociological theories and social science methodology for understanding social processes and phenomena in the specific context of Croatian society and comparatively in a European and global perspective. The study of sociology aims to train highly qualified sociological research personnel with professional research and analytical skills necessary for productive work in the public and private sectors. The sociology program at the bachelor's and master's levels is organized according to current international scientific standards.

International Exchange at the Faculty of Croatian Studies – Agreements Signed with Two New Universities

The Faculty of Croatian Studies has expanded its network of international cooperation by signing new Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreements with the University of Santiago de Compostela in the Kingdom of Spain and Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje.

The agreement with the University of Santiago de Compostela, one of the oldest and most prestigious European universities, enables the reciprocal exchange of two students from the Department of History at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels for periods of five or ten months. Reciprocal staff mobility is also provided for two lecturers for a duration of five days.

In addition, the agreement with Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje has been expanded and, starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, will include the exchange of two undergraduate and graduate students from the Departments of Sociology and Psychology.

Reciprocal staff mobility is also enabled for two lecturers from the Department of Croatian Latinity, the Department of Croatology, the Department of Sociology, and the Department of Psychology, for a period of five working days.

By concluding these new agreements, the Faculty of Croatian Studies continues to actively expand its network of international partners, contributing to greater institutional visibility and recognition while enabling students and staff to undertake study visits, professional development, and knowledge exchange.
